Major updates for e-Learning Anaesthesia

The award-winning e-Learning Anaesthesia (e-LA) programme will be going through some significant updates and changes over the coming months.

Following an extensive review by our clinical editors, the Critical Care Module will be completely re-developed to bring it more closely in line with Annex F – the Royal College of Anaesthetists’ (RCoA) core training programme on Intensive Care Medicine.

The changes will include:

  • 22 new sessions
  • 15 major updates
  • 13 BJA Education articles to be added
  • 10 combined sessions to be formed (from 24 existing sessions)

These changes will be implemented gradually over the next few months due to the level of clinical input required. Additionally, the module topics and sub-topics will be re-structured to make it easier to locate information.

The Basic Science Module (module 7) will also be updated following a major review by the RCoA’s Primary Examiners. The examiners have been reviewing Modules 7a, 7b, 7c, and 7d, with an initial focus on Physiology, Pharmacology and Physics.

As a result, the following changes will be made:

  • 30 new sessions
  • 43 sessions that will be updated significantly

Finally, a new and enhanced version of the e-Library has been launched – e-LA e-Library Collections.

Using this new version, you can sort articles by topic and sub-topic rather than chronological order.

Richard Bryant, from eIntegrity, said: “One of the key benefits of e-learning is that it can be updated in real time to reflecting ever-changing clinical developments – unlike a textbook.

“Our programmes are kept under regular review to ensure that the content remains relevant and current. These changes will ensure that learners have access to the latest clinical information and best practice guidance, alongside improved navigation and search functionality.

“We always welcome user feedback so please get in touch if you have any suggestions.”
