A high-quality e-learning programme dedicated to critical care is now available through eIntegrity.
e-Learning for Intensive Care Medicine (e-ICM) is suitable for a wide range of healthcare professionals working in critical care, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists. It includes more than 700 learning sessions on topics such as general ICM concepts, medicine and surgery, basic science and non-clinical themes such as governance and legal issues. e-ICM is mapped to the UK’s ICM curriculum and COBATRICE – an international programme designed to harmonise ICM training in Europe and other world regions.
The programme, which can be used for both training and continuing professional development, has been produced in the UK by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) and NHS England e-Learning for Healthcare.
Daniel Waeland, Head of FICM, said: “e-ICM has been written by leading clinical experts in the UK, many of whom are educators in the field. So, learners can gain practical insights from practitioners working at the highest levels in the specialty.
“The e-learning includes dedicated ICM sessions, but it also draws on high-quality content from eIntegrity’s excellent anaesthesia, acute medicine, surgery and other programmes. As a result, learners can access high-quality material via a single knowledge source – without having to spend hours trawling the Internet. So, it represents excellent value for money.”
The content includes 3D clinical diagrams, photographs and multiple-choice questions. These questions, which are linked to articles from the British Journal of Anaesthesia, help to embed learning and understanding on the complex principles involved. The results from these exercises can be included in a learner’s portfolio.
